RAINS | ZANE 2021 | TORONTO | Why I love Rains bags!
This personal series will give you a little more in-depth look into Rains. This Danish company is no overnight success, they started with a single sku. A classic Rain Coat with a focus on sleek design, strong fabrication and fun updated colour palette. Most of the raincoats at the time, classic colours with poor branding and marketing. Coming from the handbag market, this success reminding me of The Cambridge Satchel Company and O'clock Watches. Cambridge, classic leather school boy satchel that hit around the time of the first Harry Potter and the Italian O'clock with every colour band of rubberized watches you can image. This focused success on a "one Sku Sue" as Kevin O'Leary would put it, reminded me of the success of these two brands.
The co-founder Philip Lotko, made it rain gold with having a focused and simple framework for wearable and long lasting products offered at a fair price in the industry. "By lighting the way, we are finding our way. Rains has set the direction towards a sustainable future for people and the planet, and we invite you to follow our responsible business behavior on our journey." Rains has now grown to a full outwear and accessories collection. ZANE, located in Toronto, Canada, is only 1 of over 200 retailers globally, offering an assortment of bags and accessories. Spring Summer will bring you colourful assortment of Bum Bags , Fanny, or Belt Bag as some call them.
When talking the sustainable and waterproof products, it's sometime tough as you must use PU or know as Polyurethan as it's current the industries way of being Vegan by using plastic, AGH. Here is more details from RAINS about their PU.
"The performative, fluorinate-free polyurethane coating ensures water repellency and a long lifetime. The rubber material has a high durability, and with its build-in insulative quality it also has windproof abilities. Rains has specifically chosen the PU-coating as it is significantly more environment-friendly than its hormone disrupting alternatives: PVC and DWR-PFC." **RAIN WEBSITE March 1, 2021.
I love RAINS bags and try selecting the best styles, functionality and balance of price and quality. It's been a great opportunity to work with the RAINS team and their water resistant products.
